Sew-a-Holics

Fun with all kinds of sewing

The group was formed in 1991 and some of the founding members still attend.

Over the years the Group has evolved beginning mainly with Cross-Stitch and moving on until we now cover embroidery by hand, machine, crochet, knitting, tatting and we are now following the fashion and are quilting.

We have workshops monthly on Saturdays with Quiltesk. And some fine work has been produced under their supervision. We also have a UFO (unfinished objects) day two weeks later than their visit.

On the 21st November 2013 the Centre’s Management Committee is holding a Christmas Coffee Morning to raise funds for the Centre. Sew-A-Holics have provided items which they have made for the Tombola and Raffle Prizes. The money raised from these items will be donated to the Centre. One of our members has donated a quilt which she has made to be raffled on that day.

The Group is not just about learning - we also socialise - and often more energy is used in conversation than actual work. Some enduring friendships have come from our mutual love of craft. We go out for meals from time to time and have a Christmas Party. We also have demonstrators from time to time and workshops tutored by members.

We meet every Tuesday at 7.00 pm and have 21 members at present. This means that we are at full capacity for membership. If anyone is interested in joining our Group their name could be put on our waiting list.
